Day by day

Day 1: Arusha (1400 m) – Miriakamba Hut (2500 m)

 

Begin your 4-day Mount Meru trek with an early breakfast in Arusha (1,400 m). You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. Here, porters will organize and pack your belongings for the hike while you and your guide complete registration with the Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA).

Your journey starts with a scenic ascent through Arusha National Park, where the first day feels like a walking safari. Keep an eye out for giraffes, zebras, antelopes, buffaloes, and occasionally elephants along the trail. For safety and wildlife management, an armed ranger from the park accompanies your team throughout the hike.

The trail takes you past the Ngarenanyuki River and a picturesque waterfall at the base of Mount Meru. You will reach Miriakamba Hut (2,500 m), where your chef will prepare a hearty hot dinner and provide washing water. End your day enjoying a breathtaking sunset over the slopes of Mount Meru before settling in for your overnight stay.

Full-Day Serengeti National Park Game Drive

Ngorongoro Crater Safari & Karatu Overnight

Depart for Ngorongoro Crater and descend into the crater floor for a spectacular safari game drive. In the late afternoon, ascend from the crater and continue to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay at Eileen’s Trees Inn, on an all-inclusive board basis.

Day 4: Miriakamba Hut (2500 m) – Arusha (1400 m)

After a long rest and breakfast at the hut, begin your final descent from Mount Meru toward Momella Gate. The trail leads through scenic forests and open alpine meadows, where wildlife sightings are common, including buffalo, giraffes, antelope, and diverse birdlife.

One of today’s highlights is passing through the famous Fig Tree Arch, a natural tunnel formed by a massive fig tree and one of the most photographed landmarks in Arusha National Park.

At the foothills of Mount Meru, meet your driver for a comfortable transfer back to Arusha, where you will relax and prepare for your wildlife safari adventure starting the next day.

Day 5: Tarangire National Park
