Day By Day Program
Day 1: Tarangire National Park
Your adventure kicks off in Arusha, where the friendly team from Tanzania Luxury Safaris will meet you at your hotel or the airport. After a brief introduction, you’ll board a spacious 4×4 safari vehicle—ideal for families—and embark on a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Renowned for its striking landscapes and rich wildlife, Tarangire immerses you in the heart of Africa. Towering baobab trees and the life-giving Tarangire River attract an incredible variety of animals, setting the stage for your family’s first exciting game drive.
As you traverse the park, your knowledgeable guide will point out massive herds of elephants, grazing alongside giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest. Keep your eyes peeled for lions resting in the shade or leopards perched high in acacia trees. Children will delight in spotting colorful birds like the lilac-breasted roller and the amusing white-bellied go-away bird. Midday, you’ll enjoy a scenic picnic lunch by the river, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness, while your guide shares fascinating insights about the park’s animals and ecosystems.
In the afternoon, continue your game drive through Tarangire’s rolling savannah, soaking up the park’s natural beauty. As the day winds down, you’ll transfer to the peaceful Marera Valley Lodge, located just outside Karatu. This family-friendly lodge offers cozy accommodations, delicious meals, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere where you can relax. Over dinner, share stories of the day’s wildlife encounters, while the kids recount their favorite moments. The lodge’s serene environment provides the perfect night’s rest in preparation for the next day’s safari adventures.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
After a hearty breakfast at your Lodge, your family will embark on an early morning 3-hour drive to the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often hailed as one of nature’s greatest wonders. The journey through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area showcases lush highlands and distant volcanic peaks, setting the tone for an unforgettable day. Upon arrival, you’ll descend into the crater floor, a vast caldera home to over 25,000 animals. Encircled by towering volcanic walls, this unique ecosystem offers intimate and private wildlife viewing opportunities.
With the guidance of your experienced safari guide, you’ll spot lions, hyenas, and grazing antelopes. Children will be delighted by hippos in the crater’s swamps and may even catch sight of the elusive black rhino, one of the crater’s rarest residents. Alongside the wildlife, you’ll learn about the Maasai people, who share this land and live in harmony with the animals, adding a fascinating cultural dimension to your adventure. A picnic lunch amid zebras and dramatic cliffs provides the perfect opportunity for family bonding in a breathtaking setting.
In the afternoon, explore the crater’s varied landscapes, from open grasslands to shaded forests, before ascending back to the rim.
