Tanzania Luxury Safari

Akagera National Park

Akagera National Park is one of Rwanda’s most diverse ecosystems, defined by its warm, low-lying plains, vast savannahs, rich woodlands, thriving wetlands, and a chain of beautiful lakes. In partnership with African Parks, Akagera has been transformed into a world-class safari destination where conservation success and unforgettable wildlife encounters go hand in hand.

A Landscape Perfect for Game Viewing

The open terrain of Akagera offers exceptional visibility, making it an ideal destination for classic game drives. Conservation efforts continue to boost wildlife numbers, ensuring the Big Five—lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhinoceros—are increasingly seen throughout the park.

A Conservation Success Story

Since the African Parks partnership began in 2010, Akagera has undergone an impressive revival:

  • Poaching reduced to an all-time low
Achieved through the deployment of a helicopter, an efficient canine anti-poaching unit, and dedicated rhino tracking teams.

  • Successful reintroduction of lions and rhinos
A family of lions from South Africa has adapted and bred successfully.
Additionally, 18 eastern black rhinos have been reintroduced, enhancing the park’s biodiversity.

  • Thriving wildlife populations
Visitors can encounter elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, baboons, monkeys, and over 490 species of birds, making Akagera a paradise for bird lovers.
